Orest Romashyna (b. October 27th 1943 in Rheine, Germany) is a former left winger.
Romashyna became in 1963 the third pick of the 1963 NHL Amateur Draft, the first of the National Hockey League history, when the Boston Bruins selected him. Of Ukrainian descent, Romashyna imigrated from West Germany to Canada when he was three to settle in Ontario. He still had the German nationality when he was drafted; therefeore, he was the first European-born player of European nationality to be drafted in an NHL Draft.
Romashyna failed to reach the NHL. He would play a single season in the Ontario Hockey Association following his draft, cumulating only 6 points in 23 games (1 goal and 5 assists). He returned to his Junior C team of New Hamburg for a couple more seasons afterward, before leaving hockey to become school teacher.
