Not to be confused with the Order of Hockey in Canada.

The Order of Canada (French: Ordre du Canada) is a Canadian state order and the second-highest honour for merit in the system of orders, decorations, and medals of Canada, after the Order of Merit.

The process of founding the Order of Canada began in early 1966 and came to a conclusion on 17 April 1967, when the organization was instituted by Her Majesty, Queen Elizabeth II, on the advice of the Canadian prime minister, Lester B. Pearson, who was assisted with the establishment of the order by John Matheson.

Numerous ice hockey related people have been presented with membership in the Order. Of the hockey related inductees only Alan Eagleson has been removed.Alan Eagleson loses his Order of Canada.</ref>
