History

The Ontario Intercollegiate Athletic Association grew out of the intermediate level of play of universities. It was made up of smaller universities which could not compete in size with the other schools in Ontario.

Starting in 1964-65 the league was allowed to send its champion to the national championship.

The league's members folded into the Ontario Universities Athletic Association in 1971-72 as part of the rationalization of university sports in Ontario & Quebec.
