Ondřej Vitásek (born on September 4, 1990 in Prostějov) is a Czech ice hockey defenceman currently playing with the Bílí Tygři Liberec of the Tipsport Extraliga.

Club career[]

Vitásek began his junior career with the HC Prostějov organisation. In the 2005-06 season, he also played with the HC Přerov U18 team. In 2007, he finally moved to the HC Slezan Opava organisation and finished his junior career here in 2010-11. In the 2008-09 season, he was also written on the roster of the HC Šternberk junior team.

Vitásek made his senior debut in the 2008-09 season playing 17 regular season games and 6 play-off games with the HC Slezan Opava of the 2. Liga while he also played 41 regular season games and 3 play-off games with the HC Slezan Opava junior team.

In the 2009-10 season, Vitásek continued with the HC Slezan Opava of the 2. Liga and played there another 33 regular season games and 3 play-off games and he also played 1 game on loan with the HC Vítkovice Steel of the Tipsport Extraliga in this season. With the HC Slezan Opava junior team, he played 30 games this season.

The 2010-11 season was Vitásek's last junior season in which he played 28 games with the HC Slezan Opava junior team and 12 games with the HC Slezan Opava of the 2. Liga.

In 2011, Vitásek signed with the Bílí Tygři Liberec of the Tipsport Extraliga. In the 2011-12 season, he played 3 games with the Bílí Tygři Liberec and 41 regular season games and 6 play-off games with the Bílí Tygři Liberec's farm team, the HC Benátky nad Jizerou of the 1. Liga.

In the next season, he played 13 games with the Bílí Tygři Liberec and 26 games with the HC Benátky nad Jizerou.

In the 2013-14 season, Vitásek played 31 regular season games and 3 play-off games with the Bílí Tygři Liberec and 26 games with the HC Benátky nad Jizerou.

In the 2014-15 season, Vitásek started playing mostly with the Bílí Tygři Liberec. He played there 45 games while playing only one game with the HC Benátky nad Jizerou.

In the 2015-16 season, he played 4 games with the HC Benátky nad Jizerou of the WSM Liga (formerly 1. Liga) and 38 regular season games and 14 play-off games with the Bílí Tygři Liberec winning the Tipsport Extraliga title.

In the 2016-17 season, he played only with the Bílí Tygři Liberec.

In 2017, Vitásek moved to the Yugra Khanty-Mansiysk of the KHL. After one season spent there, he moved to the Kunlun Red Star of the KHL. He spent there also one season after which he moved to the Amur Khabarovsk of the KHL.

Vitásek began the 2020-21 season with the Dinamo Riga of the KHL. After 19 games played and after bad performance of the whole team, Vitásek's contract was terminated and Vitásek moved back to his native Czechia to the Bílí Tygři Liberec of the Tipsport Extraliga. He finished there the season with 24 regular season games and 16 play-off games played. Vitásek is currently signed there until the end of the 2022-23 season with a one-year option.

International career[]

Vitásek played with the Czech National Team at the 2014 World Championship and at the 2018 Olympics.
