The Olympia Yvan-Cournoyer is an arena and sports complex located in Drummondville, Quebec Canada.
History[]
It was built in 1972 by the municipality of Drummondville-Sud. The name is in honour of hockey player Yvan Cournoyer.
The arena, which was very rudimentary, was improved around 1981, when Drummondville-Sud merged with Drummondville.
In March 2007, the Olympia Yvan-Cournoyer was expanded. An Olympic-sized ice rink has been added. This new part cost $5.5 million and its inauguration took place towards the end of September 2007.
In 2017, the City of Drummondville announced that the refrigeration system and concrete slab of the Olympic-sized rink would be replaced in 2018.
