History[]

The Olds Elks were a senior and intermediate team in Olds, Alberta. They played in the Southern Alberta Senior Hockey League in 1934-35 and 1935-36 and then in the Alberta Senior Hockey League from 1936 to 1940.

They suspended play during World War II.

After the war the team played at the intermediate level, sometimes in the Central Alberta Hockey League. The Elks won the Alberta Intermediate Championship in 1957-58 and 1962-63. In both seasons they won the Edmonton Journal Trophy for the Western Canada Intermediate Championship.

The team was named for the local Elks Club which sponsored the team.

Elks who previously played in the NHL[]

The team was used as a sort of 'last stop' for these ex-NHL players after they played in the big league. No players played in the NHL after they played for the Elks.
