History[]
Ancestor League[]
The league can trace its' roots to the North Okanagan Hockey League which dated back to 1922-23. The league had stopped play due to World War II either in 1941. The Vernon Legionaires were members of that league and participated in the 1941-42 British Columbia Intermediate Playoffs (as the Vernon Blue & Whites), 1945-46 British Columbia Intermediate Playoffs and 1946-47 British Columbia Intermediate Playoffs as an independent team. Salmon Arm, Lumby and Kelowna also participated in the league prior to the league stopping play caused by the War.
OML[]
The league was based in the Okanagan region in south-central British Columbia plus teams in Vancouver and Victoria.
This senior league was previously an intermediate league. It was promoted in 1949.
There was a serious travel problem between the teams in the Okanagan Valley and the Nanaimo Clippers on Vancouver Island. This was the main reason the league only lasted two seasons before splitting up into the Okanagan Senior League and the Pacific Coast Senior League.
