Novocheboksarsk (Russian: Новочебокса́рск, Śĕnĕ Šupaškar) is a city in the Chuvash Republic, Russia, located on the southern bank of the Volga River, about 3 kilometers (1.9 mi) east of Cheboksary, the capital of the republic. The population as of 2010 was 124,097.
History[]
It was founded in 1960 when a trend of building satellite cities started.[1] Starting from barren land, the growing town absorbed surrounding villages, such as Yelnikovo, Urakovo, Yandashevo, Anatkasy, and Tsygankasy.
