The Northern Lakes Hockey League was a Midget AAA hockey league based in the northern Midwest focused on growth and development of the players within the league while allowing players the maximum opportunity to grow and move on to the next level of their career.
Northern Lakes Hockey League was also a senior hockey league that was based in Saskatchewan. It was first active in 1966-67. The Canwood Canucks won the championship in 1967-68, defeating Mildred in the semifinals (9-3, 8-6) and Spiritwood in the final (7-6, 6-4). Leoville, Mirror Lake, and Debden also participated. In 1968-69 the league featured Big River, Mistawassis, Debden, Canwood, Leoville, and Spiritwood. In 1970-71 the teams that played in it were Debden Jets, Leask Flyers, Leoville Huskies, Rabbit Lake, Spiritwood Timberwolves, and Big River Braves.
