Norm Schmidt (born January 24, 1963 in Sault Ste. Marie, Ontario) is a retired Canadian professional ice hockey defenceman who played 125 games in the National Hockey League for the Pittsburgh Penguins.

He played junior hockey for the Oshawa Generals from 1980 to 1983 and was chosen 70th overall in the 1981 NHL Entry Draft. In 1983-84 he split the season between the Pens and the Baltimore Skipjacks, playing in 34 games for the NHL club. Schmidt played all of 1984-85 with the Skipjacks, but returned in 1985-86 with the Penguins. That year he scored 15 goals, including 12 on the Power play.

1986-87 was another season split between Baltimore and Pittsburgh and then Schmidt suffered a career-ending back injury in October, 1987.

In his NHL career Schmidt scored 23 goals and 33 assists in 125 games.
