The Nickel Centre Power Trains were a Tier II junior hockey team.
They played in the Northern Ontario Junior Hockey League in 1986-87 only, having been renamed from the Nickel Centre Native Sons.
The Power Trains won the league title and then accomplished something no other Northern Ontario team had ever done. They beat the Ontario Provincial Junior A Hockey League champion Owen Sound Greys in the 1987 Dudley Hewitt Cup playoffs. Unfortunately the Power Trains were beaten by the Pembroke Lumber Kings in the final.
