Nathan Saunders is a Canadian professional defenceman. He was born on May 25,1985, in Charlottetown, Prince Edward Island, Canada.

He played junior for the Moncton Wildcats of the Quebec Major Junior Hockey League. The Anaheim Might Ducks chose him 119th overall in the 2003 NHL Entry Draft.

Saunders turned pro with the Portland Pirates of the American Hockey League in 2005-06, but a shoulder injury restricted him to 20 games in the season. In 2006-07, he played for the Pirates and the Augusta Lynx. He was traded to the Boston Bruins in 2007.

He spent the next two seasons solely in the minors.
