Montenegro is a nation of about 675,000 people in southeastern Europe. Its capital and largest city is Podgorica. It borders Croatia to the west, Bosnia and Herzegovina to the northwest, Serbia to the northeast, Kosovo to the east, and Albania to the southeast.
From 1918-1992, it was a part of Yugoslavia. From 1992-2006 it was part of Serbia. It became independent on June 3, 2006.
