History of hockey in Moldova
Moldova has been welcomed as the 66th nation admitted in the International Ice Hockey Federation as an IIHF Associate on May 21st 2008 during an annual meeting held in Montreal, Quebec, Canada. The game is not very developped in the country, with, as of 2010, only one club involved in the sport, Dinamo Chisinau. The club has two junior teams and plays in the Romanian Junior Hockey League, where it finished second overall for the 2009-10 season
There are 2 ice rinks in Moldova. There are 6 teams Solar Moldova, Acvila, HC Moldavia, Ice Bravo, Pantera, and Codru. 2 more rinks are planned .Moldova joined the IIHF on May 20 2008. The country has not participated in any IIHF tournaments.
