Mike Hamilton (born May 2, 1983 in Victoria, British Columbia) is a professional ice hockey forward currently playing for the American Hockey League's Houston Aeros. Hamilton was drafted in the 6th round (175th overall) by the Atlanta Thrashers in the 2003 NHL Entry Draft.
Junior and Collegiate career[]
Hamilton played one season for the Victoria Salsa of the British Columbia Hockey League during the 2000-01 season and scored seven points in 31 games for Victoria. After juniors, Hamilton would enroll to play at the University of Maine in Hockey East. In four seasons with the Black Bears, Hamilton scored 65 points in 137 games.
Professional career[]
Hamilton started his professional career in 2007, when he was assigned to Atlanta's ECHL affiliate, the Gwinnett Gladiators. Hamilton would play in all 72 games with Gwinnett notching 23 goals and 27 assists for 50 points and eight points in eight games for the Gladiators in the playoffs. Hamilton would earn promotion to the Chicago Wolves of the American Hockey League during Chicago's 2008 Calder Cup playoff run, scoring one goal in six games as the Wolves won the Calder Cup. Hamilton signed with the Las Vegas Wranglers of the ECHL for the 2008-09 season as a free agent. After 18 games and scoring 10 points with Las Vegas, the Wranglers sent Hamilton on loan to the Houston Aeros for his second career stint in the AHL.
