Merlis Belsher Place is a twin sheet ice arena scheduled to open in October of 2018 in Saskatoon, Saskatchewan.  The arena is located on the campus of the University of Saskatchewan.  The arenas will become home to the Saskatchewan Huskies hockey program.  Construction on the arena began in the spring of 2017.  Plans on the arena were adjusted to up the capacity from 2,357 to 3,437 after donations exceeded expectations lead by a donation by law school alumnus Merlis Belsher who donated $12.25 million which was the largest donation in the university's history.  Due another $4 million donation, the facility will also have two full size gymnasiums which will become home to the university's basketball program when it opens in 2019.  The whole facility is expected to cost $42.9 million.  The facility will also be used by Saskatoon minor hockey.[1][2] The arena is the host for the 2024 edition of the Fred Sasakamoose Chief Thunderstick National Hockey Championship.
