Maxim Vladimirovich Mamin (Russian: Максим Владимирович Maмин; born on January 13, 1995 in Moskva) is a Russian professional ice hockey left/right winger currently playing with the CSKA Moskva of the KHL. He was drafted 175th overall in the 2016 NHL Entry Draft by the Florida Panthers.[1]

Club career[]

In 2011 - 2014, Mamin played with the Krasnaya Armiya Moskva of the MHL.

He made his senior debut in the KHL with the CSKA Moskva during the 2014–15 season. He concluded his rookie campaign with 5 goals and 10 points in 39 regular season games and with no points in the play-offs. He won the Aleksei Cherepanov Award for the best rookie of the KHL. He was also named the KHL Rookie of the Month in February 2015 and the KHL Rookie of the Week on February 15.

In the 2015-16 season, he played 48 regular season games and 19 play-off games with the CSKA Moskva of the KHL and 5 games with the Zvezda Chekhov of the VHL.

In the next season, Mamin scored 25 points in 42 regular season games and 3 points in 9 play-off games with the CSKA Moskva and 5 points in 4 games with the Zvezda Chekhov.

On June 2, 2017, Mamin left CSKA Moskva and agreed to a two-year, entry-level contract with the Florida Panthers of the NHL.[2] He was then sent to the Panthers AHL affiliate, the Springfield Thunderbirds. Mamin was called up to the NHL on January 1, 2018.[3] He made his NHL debut on January 7, 2018 against the Columbus Blue Jackets before being sent back to the AHL on January 12.[4] Mamin was recalled on January 29[5] and he recorded his first NHL goal on February 22, 2018, against the Washington Capitals.[6] All in all, he played 26 games with the Panthers and 32 games with the Thunderbirds in the 2017-18 season.

During the 2018–19 season, Mamin appeared in 7 scoreless games with the Panthers. Unable to secure a regular role within the roster, Mamin was loaned by the Panthers to his former KHL club, the CSKA Moskva, for the remainder of the season on November 19, 2018.[7] Mamim scored 3 points in 25 regular season games with CSKA Moskva, however made his biggest impact in the playoffs, scoring the Gagarin Cup finals winning goal for CSKA Moskva against the Avangard Omsk to claim the Gagarin Cup.[citation needed] He scored 5 points in 10 play-off games in total. He also played 2 play-off games with the Zvezda Moskva (formerly Zvezda Chekhov) of the VHL.

On April 30, 2019, as an impending restricted free agent by the Panthers, Mamin opted to continue his second stint with CSKA, signing a two-year contract through 2021.[8]

International career[]

Mamin played with the Russian National Team at the 2012 World U17 Hockey Challenge where he won the gold medal, at the 2015 World Junior Championship winning the silver medal and at the 2018 World Championship.
