Maxwell Brian Grover[1] ( born July 29, 1988 in Kentwood, Michigan) is an American former professional ice hockey defenceman who last and most recently played for Bowling Green State University in the National Collegiate Athletic Association (NCAA).
Playing career[]
Grover played junior hockey for the Traverse City North Stars of the North American Hockey League in 2006-07 and then two seasons for the Sioux Falls Stampede of the United States Hockey League. In his first season with Sioux Falls, Grover played in 51 regular season games, adding a goal and six assits in his first season for the Stampede. He played 3 playoff games for the team, going scoreless with 17 penalty minutes.
In his second season with the Sioux Falls Stampede, in 2008-09, Grover appeared in 50 games, earning 22 points, scoring 4 times with 18 assists. He played in four playoff games, only scoring once and adding six penalty minutes. Grover was an eligible prospect for the 2009 NHL Entry Draft but was not selected by any NHL team.
Grover played the 2009-10 season with the Bowling Green Falcons. In his rookie season with the team he played in 27 games picking up 3 assists with 55 penalty minutes. In Grover's sophmore season with Bowling Green, in 2010–11, he played in 35 games, tallying 2 assists along with 83 penalty minutes. In 2011-12 , his last season with the Falcons, he played in 24 games, adding 2 assists, the same amount of points as the previous season. He also added 16 penalty minutes.
Personal life[]
Grover lived most of his life in Grand Rapids, Michigan with his four brothers J.P., James, Zach and Ben. His parents are Jeff and Lori Grover. He graduated from East Kentwood High School in 2007 and played hockey for the team while he attended the school. Grover's dream was to play college hockey so after graduating, to further pursue his interest in college hockey he moved to Sioux Falls to play for the Sioux Falls Stampede. Due to his success with the two years he played for the Stampede, Grover was given a scholarship to play hockey at Bowling Green University in Kentucky.[2]
Grover has a major in business and also recieved a Bachleor of Science degree in business administration. After playing professional hockey he became interested in real estate and is now the executive vice president for Grover Real Estate in Grand Rapids. Grover will be going back to school once again in the future to pursue a Certified Commercial investment Membership to expand his education in the real estate business.[3]
