Matt McIlvane (born on November 2, 1985 in Naperville) is an American retired professional ice hockey center. He was selected by the Ottawa Senators in the 8th round (251st overall) of the 2004 NHL Entry Draft. He is currently the head coach of the EC Salzburg of the ICEHL and the assistant coach of the German National Team.
Club career[]
McIlvane began his junior career with the Chicago Freeze of the NAHL and played there in 2001 - 2003. In the 2002-03 season, he was named the NAHL Player of the Month in February 2003.
In the 2003-04 season, he played with the Chicago Steel of the USHL.
Next four seasons played McIlvane with the Ohio State Univ. of the NCAA. After the completion of the 2007-08 season with the Ohio State Univ. in which he played 41 games, he finished the season with the Binghamton Senators of the AHL where he played 4 games.
In the 2008-09 season played McIlvane with the Eisbären Berlin of the DEL.
In the next season, he played 62 games with the Bloomington PrairieThunder of the IHL and 8 games with the Peoria Rivermen of the AHL.
In the 2010-11 season, he played just 7 games with the Bloomington PrairieThunder of the CHL and 3 games with the Peoria Rivermen of the AHL.
In his final season, the 2011-12, he played only 2 games with the Cincinnati Cyclones of the ECHL.
