Matthew Todd Lauer (/laʊər/; born December 30, 1957) is a former American television news anchor. He was the co-host of NBC's Today show from 1997 to 2017, and a contributor for Dateline NBC.

During the 2014 Winter Olympics, prime-time host Bob Costas suffered a major eye infection over the first five days of prime-time coverage. As a result, Lauer replaced him for the sixth day of coverage, and hosted from February 11 until February 14.

At some other point in his career he served as an ice level reporter for NHL on NBC broadcast.
