Matt Kennedy (born May 4, 1989 in Richmond Hill, Ontario) is a Canadian right winger playing for the Charlotte Checkers of the American Hockey League.
He played junior hockey for the Guelph Storm and the Barrie Colts of the Ontario Hockey League from 2005 to 2010. The Carolina Hurricanes chose him 131st overall in the 2009 NHL Entry Draft.
Zack Kassian hit Kennedy in the head on January 21, 2010, and was suspended for 20 games.
Kennedy signed a three-year entry-level contract with the Hurricanes in May, 2010, and in the fall was assigned to the Checkers.
