Matěj Stránský (born on July 11, 1993 in Ostrava) is a Czech ice hockey right/left winger currently playing with the HC Davos of the NL. He was selected 165th overall by the Dallas Stars in the 2011 NHL Entry Draft.

His younger brother Šimon Stránský also plays ice hockey and their uncle Vladan Stránský used to play it as well.

Club career[]

Matěj Stránský began his junior career with the HC Vítkovice organisation and in 2010 - 2013 played with the Saskatoon Blades of the WHL.

Stránský continued in the North America spending next 4 seasons with the Texas Stars of the AHL. In 2014, Stránský helped the Texas Stars win the Calder Cup and in the 2016-17 season, Stránský played at the 2017 AHL All-Star Game.

In 2017, Stránský returned to Europe and played with the Severstal Cherepovets of the KHL in the 2017-18 season. He also began there the next season, but after 17 games played, he moved to the Mora IK of the SHL where he finished the season with the 24 regular season games and 5 relegation games played.

In 2019 - 2021, Stránský played with the HC Oceláři Třinec of the Tipsport Extraliga. In the 2020-21 season, he became the best goal-scorer of the Tipsport Extraliga with 33 goals scored and helped his team win the Tipsport Extraliga title.

In 2021, Stránský signed a two-year contract with the HC Davos of the NL.
