Mark Paterson (born February 22, 1964 in Ottawa, Ontario) is a retired Canadian professional ice hockey defenceman. He played in 29 NHL games with the Hartford Whalers over parts of four seasons.
He played Tier II Junior "A" hockey with the Nepean Raiders of the Central Junior A Hockey League and major junior with the Ottawa 67's of the Ontario Hockey League. Paterson played for Canada in the 1984 World Junior Ice Hockey Championships and won the 1984 Memorial Cup with the 67's. The Hartford Whalers chose him 35th overall in the 1982 NHL Entry Draft.
The Whalers brought him up for two games in the 1983-84 season. In the next two seasons, Paterson spent most of his time with the Binghamton Whalers while playing a few games for Hartford. In 1986 he was traded to the Calgary Flames but did not play for that NHL club. He spent three seasons in the minor pros and retired in 1989.
