Mariolessard

Mario Lessard (born June 25, 1954 in East Broughton, Quebec) is a retired Canadian ice hockey goaltender.

Lessard started his National Hockey League career with the Los Angeles Kings in 1978. He would play his entire NHL career with the Kings. He retired after the 1984 season.

He played major junior with the Sherbrooke Castors and was chosen by the Kings 154th overall in the 1974 NHL Entry Draft. Lessard turned pro that year and played four seasons in the minors.

Lessard made the Kings in 1978-79 and immediately became one of the top goalies in the NHL. In 1980-81 he was a Second Team All-star and played in the 33rd National Hockey League All-Star Game. He was also named to Canada's team in the 1981 Canada Cup.

After this season his game entered a steep decline. He became a part-timer and spent time in the minors. Lessard retired in 1984.
