Lucianobasile

Luciano Basile (b. December 13, 1959 in Montreal, Quebec, Canada) is a professional head coach who coaches in the Ligue Magnus Briançon APHC.

Basile, whose parents hail from Avellino, began coaching at the Midget AAA level in Montreal in 1988 before moving to Europe in 1990, where he has coached ever since. He began his European journey in the land of his parents, Italy, with Bressanone HC of the Serie B. After three seasons there, he moved to the upper level in Italy, joining HC Varese in 1993, then AS Asiago in 1995. The following season, he agreed to move to Spain, to coach Majadahonda HC of the Superliga Española. The adventure in Spain lasted two seasons before he returned to Italy, joining in 1998 HC Fiemme, then SHC Fassa the next season. After a two years stay in Germany with ERSC Amberg, Basile joined Briançon APHC in 2003, where he still coaches today, since team president Alain Bayrou invited him to replace player-coach Juha Jokiharju. He did some good things in Briançon. He brought the team to the finals of the Coupe de France in 2005 and 2006, losing both times, however. He repeated the feat in 2008, losing again. His good results in the Ligue Magnus had him invited twice at the Ligue Magnus All-Stars Game (2006 and 2008).

He has spent some time assisting Pat Cortina with the Hungarian National Team. This stay helped him bring some magyar internationals in Briançon: Márton Vas, Viktor Szélig and Balázs Ladányi.
