The Long Beach Sharks, are a USA Hockey-sanctioned ice hockey team and member of the North American 3 Hockey League, they play their home games at the Long Beach Municipal Ice Arena in Long Beach, NY. The Sharks organization originally began as the NY Junior Aviators in the International Junior Hockey League for the 2010-11 season and played their home games at the Aviator Sports & Events Center in Brooklyn, NY. In December, 2012, team ownership purchased the former Buffalo Stars Eastern States Hockey League Franchise and relocated the team to Brooklyn and assumed the name the NY Aviators. The team was accepted into USA Hockey and was entered into the Empire Junior Hockey League in 2013-14 during the launch of the United States Premier Hockey League (USPHL). In the teams second season (2014-15) in the "Empire" (EmJHL) they were crowned what turned-out to be final Empire League Champions after defeating the former League Champions Florida Junior Blades and were runner-up to the Boston Junior Bruins Elite team in the 2015 USA Hockey Tier III Junior Nationals Championship.
The teams USPHL franchise was relocated to the New York Dragons organization based in Rye, New York in the spring of 2015, however the team did not take to the ice for the 2015-16 season.
The NY Aviators accepted entry into the NA3EHL for the 2015-16 season and completed their play-off run after losing to the eventual League Champions Jersey Shore Wildcats in the Semi-finals. The NA3EHL was accepted into the NA3HL for the 2016-17 season at which time team ownership announced that the organization was relocating to Long Beach, New York and will be changing their name to the Long Beach Sharks. The Sharks will begin their inaugural season in Long Beach in September, 2016.

Due to restrictions in place due to the COVID-19 pandemic, the team was forced to play the 2020-21 season on the road and they were temporarily named the New England Sharks, playing home games in the other team's home rink and being designated as the home team for the season.
