This is a List of WHA Draft Picks taken from Canadian Junior A, now known as the Canadian Junior Hockey League.
Background[]
The first ever Tier II player to be drafted into the World Hockey Association was Ken Houston of the Southern Ontario Junior A Hockey League's Chatham Maroons. He was taken in the 5th round, 58th overall by the Alberta Oilers.
Fourteen Tier II players were taken in the 1974, much like in the 1974 NHL Entry Draft, where NHL teams took 12 players. After 1974, the WHA would not draft another Tier II player, much like the National Hockey League that would not draft more than one Tier II player in a single draft until the 1980 NHL Entry Draft, after the folding of the WHA.
