Libor Zábranský, Jr. (born on May 26, 2000 in Brno) is a Czech ice hockey defenceman currently playing with the HC Energie Karlovy Vary of the Tipsport Extraliga. His father is Libor Zábranský, Sr..
Club career[]
Zábranský began playing junior hockey with the HC Kometa Brno organisation. He made his senior debut during the 2016-17 season when he played 15 regular season games and 1 play-off game with the HC Kometa Brno of the Tipsport Extraliga and 3 games on loan with the SK Horácká Slavia Třebíč of the WSM Liga while he also played 1 play-off game with the HC Kometa Brno under-18 team and 34 regular season games and 12 play-off games with the HC Kometa Brno under-20 team. In this season, Zábranský became the Tipsport Extraliga champion with the HC Kometa Brno.
In 2017, Zábranský moved to North America in order to spend the 2017-18 season with the Kelowna Rockets of the WHL.
Zábranský also began the 2018-19 season with the Rockets but after 35 games played, Zábranský moved to the Fargo Force of the USHL where he finished the season with 30 regular season games and 2 play-off games played.
For the beginning of the 2019-20 season, Zábranský moved to the Saskatoon Blades of the WHL. He played there 16 games before moving to the Moose Jaw Warriors of the WHL. He neither finished the season there, he played there only 13 games. Then he moved to the Kamloops Blazers of the WHL where he finally finished the season with 23 games played.
In the 2020-21 season, Zábranský played on loan with the HC Energie Karlovy Vary of the Tipsport Extraliga.
International career[]
Zábranský represented Czechia at the 2016 World U17 Hockey Challenge, 2017 Ivan Hlinka Memorial Tournament (winning there a silver medal as the captain), 2018 World U18 Championship (as the captain) and at the 2020 World Junior Championship (as the captain).
