The Lexington County Arena is a 5,900-seat multi-purpose arena in Irmo, South Carolina currently in the planning stages. It will be completed in 2009. The arena would host the Columbia Inferno ice hockey team if completed.
The Inferno would end up having to take a leave of absence from the ECHL when legal issues with the funding of the arena arose and the team could not be guaranteed a lease at the Carolina Coliseum for the 2008-09 season. The team would extend its' leave of absence several times until being removed from the league's listing some time in late 2014.
