The Legion of Doom was a Philadelphia Flyers line formed of right winger Mikael Renberg, centre Eric Lindros and left winger John LeClair. The line existed from 1994 to 1997 and was named not only because of the offensive abilities of its members, but also because they were able to dominate the game physically.
The line was created when the Flyers acquired LeClair from the Montreal Canadiens (along with Eric Desjardins and Gilbert Dionne for Mark Recchi). It was an instant hit, with a production of 80 goals and 96 assists in the shortened 1994-95 NHL season.
The following year, it kept wreaking havoc, cumulating 121 goals and 134 assists. In the 1996-97 NHL season, they scored 104 times and collected 131 assists. That year, the Flyers made it to the Stanley Cup finals, losing to the Detroit Red Wings; the Legion of Doom was a key factor in that long playoffs run, with 26 goals and 32 assists.
The line was eventually broken up in 1997, when the Flyers traded Mikael Renberg to the Tampa Bay Lightning.
