The Laval Chiefs (Les Chiefs de Laval) was a hockey team based in Laval, Quebec. The team is still part of the Ligue nord-américaine de hockey (LNAH), though no longer in Laval. The Chiefs were previously part of the semi-professional QSPHL (1998–2003) and QSMHL (2003–2004), LNAH (2004–2006). The Chiefs played at the Colisée de Laval. The team was once known as the Saint-Lin Gladiateurs and they moved to Saint-Jean-sur-Richelieu in May 2006.

A documentary on the Chiefs' enforcers, called Les Chief, was recently released to DVD and chronicles the life of the players. It was directed by Jason Gileno.

History[]

The team was previously known as the Saint-Lin-Laurentides Gladiateurs' and the Sainte-Thérèse Chiefs'. The team's previous owner, Bob Berger sold the Chiefs to Genex Communications in 2004 who renamed them Summum Chiefs after one of Genex's magazines, Summum. Genex sold the team after only one season to a group from Saint-Jean-sur-Richelieu who moved it there for the 2005-2006 season. The Saint-Jean Summum Chiefs won the Futura cup in 2006-2007, after ironically having played their last two playoff series in their former home, the Colisée de Laval. They had also won the cup as the Laval Chiefs in 2001-2002 and 2002-2003. For the full history of the franchise, please see Jonquiere Marquis.
