Laurier Golden Hawks

"Golden Hawks" is the name of the sports teams of Wilfrid Laurier University, located in Waterloo, Ontario. The university was known as Waterloo College until 1960 then as Waterloo Lutheran University until 1973. As Waterloo College its teams were known as the "Mules", or "Ice Mules" for hockey. They are members of Ontario University Athletics (OUA) and U Sports (formerly known as CIS).

History[]

The Waterloo College Ice Mules played intermediate hockey in the Twin Cities League in at least two seasons (1933-34 and 1934-35) for which information is available on Wikia. The Waterloo Lutheran Golden Hawks hockey team started in the Ontario Intercollegiate Athletic Association (OIAA) sometime between 1958-59 and 1964-65 (the OIAA records for 1958-59 to 1963-64 are not available on Wikia) and remained there until the conference ended in 1970-71. In 1971-72 they joined the Ontario Universities Athletic Association (OUAA) once the Ontario and Quebec conferences were re-organized along provincial lines.
