Lake Champlain is an lake located along the northern part of the border of New York (state) and Vermont. The lake extends north into southern Quebec. The main cities on the Lake are Plattsburgh, New York and Burlington, Vermont.
Ice Hockey History Made on the Lake[]
The Lake would be used as an outdoor ice hockey rink for the 1886 Burlington Winter Carnival in Burlington, Vermont. The rink would be the site of the first two international ice hockey games on February 26, 1886 when the Montreal HC played the Van Ness House and then Van Ness House played the Montreal Crystals later in the day. The hometown team would lose by scores of 3-0 and 1-0 respectively. The games were played in heavy wind.
