The LIU Brooklyn Blackbirds are a women's American collegiate ice hockey team scheduled to begin play in NCAA Division I women's ice hockey with the 2019-20 season. The team represents Long Island University Brooklyn located in the Brooklyn burrough of New York City. No conference affiliation was initially announced.[1]
The school would be announced as being a member of the Northeast Women's Hockey League when it begins play.[2]
It was later announced that the school would join the New England Women's Hockey Alliance when it begins play with the 2019-20 season.[3]
The LIU Brooklyn Blackbirds will pass into history when LIU merges them with the Division II LIU Post Pioneers after the 2018–19 academic year. The new program will compete under the LIU Sharks name with a blue and gold color scheme.[4][5]
