Kyrgyzstan is an Asian nation. It was a member of the Soviet Union until 1991. It has a population of over 5 million. The capital city is Bishkek. It borders Kazakhstan to the north, Tajikistan to the southwest, Uzbekistan to the west, and China to the east.

There are outdoor rinks in Bishkek, Chayek, and Tscholpanata.An ice hockey championship is played. The 2009 winner was Dorodi-Alatoo, and the 2010 winner was Khan-Tengri. There was a 10 team tournament played in Chayek in 2006. In 1962 the Kyrgyz National team played a game against Lithuania, losing 7-2.
