The Kim Davis Trophy is presented annually to the Manitoba Junior Hockey League player selected as the most proficient in his first year of competition. Kim Davis was Commissioner of the Manitoba Junior Hockey League for eighteen years (2002-2020).
Formerly the Vince Leah Memorial Trophy. Vince Leah was a sportswriter in Winnipeg for over sixty years. He began the Community Juvenile Hockey League in 1932 and in 1934, the Excelsiors Hockey Club. Leah authored books on football and hockey, including "A History of Hockey in Manitoba".
Previously, the Gordon Petrie Memorial Trophy, donated by the staff of the King George Hospital. Petrie was a well known Manitoba hockey figure and MJHL alumni.
Hall of Famer Bobby Clarke captured the award in 1967. He had an outstanding rookie campaign, setting league records for goals, assists, and points, while leading the Flin Flon Bombers to the MJHL Championship.
