Juuso Hietanen (born on June 14, 1985 in Hämeenlinna) is a Finnish ice hockey defenceman currently playing with the Dynamo Moskva of the KHL.
Club career[]
Hietanen played as a junior with the HPK organisation.
He made his senior debut with the HPK of the SM-liiga playing two games with the team during the 2003-04 season. He also played 3 games with the Suomi U20 of the Mestis.
In the 2004-05 season, Hietanen still played mostly for the HPK junior team, but he also played 9 games for the HPK of the SM-liiga, 3 games with the Haukat of the Mestis and 15 games with the Pelicans of the SM-liiga.
Next season he became a regular player on the HPK of the SM-liiga. The HPK won the SM-liiga in this season. He scored two goals and an assist in second final, but HPK suffered its only loss in the series. At this time, he was the first third generation player in the top level of Finnish ice hockey.
Hietanen continued playing with the HPK for the next season.
In 2007, he moved to Sweden to play with Brynäs IF of the Elitserien for three seasons and for the 2010-11 season, he signed for another Swedish team HV71 of the Elitserien.
In 2011, Hietanen signed with the Torpedo Nizhny Novgorod of the KHL and stayed there for four seasons.
Since 2015, Hietanen is playing with the Dynamo Moskva of the KHL.
International career[]
Hietanen played for Finland at the 2005 World Junior Championship, 2010, 2012, 2013, 2014, 2015, 2016 and 2017 World Championships (winning silver medals in 2014 and 2016) and at the 2014 and 2018 Olympics (winning bronze medal in 2014).
