Julius Junttila (born on August 15, 1991 in Oulu) is a Finnish ice hockey player who currently plays for the Jokerit of the KHL.
Club career[]
Junttila played junior hockey with the Kärpät organisation. He made his senior debut in the 2009-10 season playing 5 regular season games and 3 play-off games with the Kärpät of the SM-liiga. In this season, he also played 1 game on loan with the Hokki of the Mestis and 3 games on loan with the Suomi U20 of the Mestis.
The 2010-11 season was his last junior season. He played mostly for the Kärpät of the SM-liiga[1], to be specific, 29 games. He also played 6 regular season games and 6 relegation games with the junior team of the Kärpät, 5 games on loan with the Kiekko-Laser of the Mestis and 3 games on loan with the Suomi U20 of the Mestis.
In 2011-2016, Junttila played with the Kärpät of the SM-liiga, later Liiga, winning the league in 2014 and 2015. In 2016, Junttila signed for one season with the Luleå HF of the SHL.
After that one year in Sweden, Junttila returned back to Finland and signed again with the Kärpät of the Liiga for one season which the Kärpät won and Junttila won the Jari Kurri Award for the best player in the play-offs and the Lasse Oksanen Award for the best player of the regular season.
In 2018, Junttila tried his luck in the KHL when he signed with the Sibir Novosibirsk, but he only played there 5 games before being transfered to the Växjö Lakers HC of the SHL where he spent the remainder of the season.
During the 2019-20 season played Junttila again with the Kärpät of the Liiga. After this season he signed a two-year contract with the Jokerit of the KHL.
International career[]
Junttila played for Finland at the 2011 World Junior Ice Hockey Championships and at the 2018 Olympics.
