Jonathan Audy-Marchessault (born December 27, 1990) is an ice hockey player in the New York Rangers organization. He played junior hockey with the Quebec Remparts in the QMJHL.
Junior career[]
2007-08 & 2008-09[]
Audy-Marchessault joined Quebec as a 16 year old for the 2007-08 season after being drafted by Quebec in the 12th round.[1] He had 10 goals and 10 assists for 20 points during the regular season, and added a goal in the playoffs.[2] In 2008-09, he increased his totals to 18 goals and 35 assists for 53 regular season points, and added 2 goals and 4 assists in the playoffs.[2]
2009-10[]
In 2009-10, Audy-Marchessault won the Gaétan Duchesne Trophy as Quebec's best defensive player.[3] Audy-Marchessault was named player of the week in both the QMJHL and CHL for the week ending December 13, 2010.[4] He finished the regular season with 30 goals and 41 assists for 71 points.[2] In the playoffs, he scored 3 goals and 11 assists for 14 points in 9 games.[2]
2010-11[]
As Quebec's assistant captain[5] in his final junior hockey season in 2010-11, Audy-Marchessault finished 6th in the QMJHL in scoring during the regular season, with 40 goals and 55 assists for 95 points.[6] His 40 goals placed 5th in the QMJHL and his 55 assists placed 9th.[7][8] His 10 first goals and his 11 game winning goals led league.[9][10] In the 2010-11 playoffs, he led the league in scoring with 11 goals and 22 assists for a total of 33 points in 18 games, even though Quebec was eliminated in the semi-finals and did not play in the final round.[11][12][2] His 11 playoff goals were 3rd in the league and his 22 playoff assists led the league.[13][14] [2] He became the first player to lead the QMJHL in playoff scoring despite not playing in the final round.[15][1]
Audy-Marchessault was named the QMJHL top star of the week for the week ending September 19, 2010.[16] He was also named CHL player of the week for the week ending April 3, 2011 during the playoffs.[17][18] At the end of the season, Audy-Marchessault was awarded the Bud Light Cup as Quebec's player of the year.[19] He was named a QMJHL First Team All-Star.[20]
Professional career[]
On June 23, 2011 he signed his first professional contract with the New York Rangers.[21][22][23] Former Rempart teammates Ryan Bourque and Kelsey Tessier are also in the Rangers organization.[21][22] In 2010-11, Audy-Marchessault played on the same line as Bourque, the Rangers 2009 3rd round draft choice. Audy-Marchessault is expected to report to the Connecticut Whale to begin his professional career in 2011-12.[23][5]
