John Garrison Marks (b. March 22 1948 in Winnipeg, Manitoba, Canada) is a former professional defenceman and actual head coach who played in the National Hockey League for the Chicago Blackhawks.
Marks was drafted by the Chicago Blackhawks in the 1968 NHL Amateur Draft from the University of North Dakota. He would go on to play 657 NHL games, all of them with the Hawks, where he left his mark as a very consistant and reliable player. On two distinct occasions, he reached a career-high of 21 goals.
A year after his retirement in 1982, Marks took on coaching duties with the University of Notre Dame. In 1987, he took the job as head coach of the Kalamazoo Wings of the IHL. Marks joined the Indianapolis Ice in 1991; two seasons later, it was the Charlotte Checkers, whom he lead to the ECHL championship in 1996. He did the feat again in 2002, this time with the Greenville Grrrowl. In 2006, Marks joined the Fayetteville FireAntz as head coach.
