Joseph Douglas Kowal (born February 3, 1956, in Toronto, Ontario) is a former professional ice hockey left wing. He was drafted in the second round, 33rd overall, by the Buffalo Sabres in the 1976 NHL Amateur Draft. He played in 22 games in the National Hockey League with the Sabres, recording five assists.

At 6'5 and 212 lbs. Kowal was an intimidating presence on the rink. He played junior hockey for the Oshawa Generals and the Hamilton Fincups from 1974 to 1976. He won the Memorial Cup in 1976 with the Fincups.

He turned pro in 1976-77 with the Sabres and the Hershey Bears. After playing 22 games with the Sabres in 1976-77 and 1977-78, he finished off his career in the minors and retired in 1981.
