Jimmy Peters, Jr. (James Stephen Peters; born June 20, 1944 in Montreal, Quebec, Canada) is a retired Canadian ice hockey left wing who played 309 games in the National Hockey League.
Peters started his NHL career with the Detroit Red Wings in 1965. He also played for the Los Angeles Kings. He would retire after the 1975 season. His father Jimmy "Shakey" Peters also played in the NHL.
He played junior hockey for the Hamilton Red Wings from 1962 to 1964, winning a Memorial Cup in 1962. Hamilton was a farm team of the Detroit Red Wings at the time, so Peters turned pro in the Wings' system.
From 1964 to 1968, he played 54 games for the Wings, while spending most of his time in the minor pros. In 1968 the Wings traded him to the Los Angeles Kings to get Terry Sawchuk back. Peters saw more NHL ice time with the Kings, playing all of the 1968-69 and 1969-70 seasons with Los Angeles. In 1970 Peters was sent down to the minors for two years and was brought back to the Kings in 1972-73. He played another season and a half for the Kings and a couple of seasons in the minors before retiring in 1976.
In the NHL Peters played in 309 games and scored 37 goals and 36 assists.
From 1985 to 1988 Peters was an assistant coach with RPI.
