James Reginald "Jim" Franks (November 8, 1914 – February 12, 1994) was a Canadian ice hockey goaltender. He was born in Melville, Saskatchewan.

He played junior hockey with the Regina Pats and the Melville Millionaires and then senior with the Prince Albert Mintos. In 1936 he signed as a free agent with the Detroit Red Wings

Franks began his National Hockey League career with the Detroit Red Wings in 1937. He only played two games (including a playoff game in 1936-37) with the Wings until 1942-43. In that year he was loaned to the New York Rangers as a wartime replacement for the injured Sugar Jim Henry. He played 23 games for the weak Rangers team and posted a 5-14-4 record.

In 1943-44 he got into 17 games for the Wings and even played against his own team once when the Bruins' Herb Gardiner was injured and Franks was an emergency loan.

He retired in 1945 after playing for the St. Louis Flyers.

In his NHL career he played in 42 regular season games and one playoff game. That one playoff game got his name on the Stanley Cup in 1937.
