James "Jim" Lorentz, Jr. (Born May 1, 1947, in Waterloo, Ontario) is a retired Canadian professional ice hockey centre who played 10 seasons in the National Hockey League for the Boston Bruins, St. Louis Blues, New York Rangers and Buffalo Sabres. He won the Stanley Cup with Boston in 1970.
He played junior hockey for the Boston Bruins' farm team the Niagara Falls Flyers from 1964-67, winning the Memorial Cup in 1966, Lorentz then turned pro with their Central Hockey League farm team Oklahoma City Blazers. He was the rookie of the year in 1967-68 and leading scorer in 1968-69.
Lorentz was a regular for the Bruins in 1969-70. He was traded to the St. Louis Blues and then the New York Rangers.
He finally found a home with the Buffalo Sabres in 1972. He played with them until 1978 when he retired - first to become coach of the Buffalo Junior Sabres and then a colour analyst for the Sabres' telecasts.
