Jim Dobson (born February 29, 1960 in Winnipeg, Manitoba) is a retired NHL forward. He played in 12 NHL games with the Minnesota North Stars, Colorado Rockies, and Quebec Nordiques.
He played junior hockey for the New Westminster Bruins and the Portland Winter Hawks. In 1978 he won the Memorial Cup with the Bruins. In the 1979 NHL Entry Draft he was picked 90th overall by the Minnesota North Stars.
Dobson was called up to the North Stars several times, scoring no points in six games. That was the pattern in the next few years until 1982 . The Stars moved hin to other NHL teams but the pattern remained.
He retired in 1986.
