By winning the 2012 Marion Hilliard Award (presented to reward excellence in the student-athlete for outstanding achievement in hockey, academics and community involvement), Morillo became the first UOIT ice hockey player to receive a CIS award since the Ridgebacks joined the CIS in 2006-07. During the 2011-12 campaign, she was the Ridgebacks team captain. In 26 OUA conference games, she accumulated 32 points (17 goals and 15 assists, all new program highs)[1] to rank third in conference scoring. In addition, she registered six multi-point outings. Being named an OUA first team all-star in 2012, Morillo became the first Ridgebacks women’s hockey player to earn first team all-star status. She appears at fundraisers and participates in elementary school visits. In addition, she helps the Ridgebacks run numerous clinics and practices for local girls hockey organizations, helping to grow the sport at the grassroots level.
