Jean Philippe Gauthier (born April 29, 1937 -died February 20, 2013) was a retired Canadian professional ice hockey defenceman who played 166 games in the National Hockey League (NHL) with the Montreal Canadiens, Boston Bruins and Philadelphia Flyers and 31 games in the World Hockey Association (WHA) with the New York Raiders.

He played junior for the St. Boniface Canadiens and the Fort William Canadiens until 1957. In that year he was a reinforcement for the Flin Flon Bombers as they won the Memorial Cup that year.

Gauthier spent the next ten seasons in the Montreal Canadiens system as a minor pro player and an injury replacement. He played one full season (1962-63) with the Canadiens and was on the Stanley Cup-winning team in 1964-65.

He was picked up by the expansion Philadelphia Flyers in 1967 and played the full 1967-68 season with that team. In 1968-69 he played part of the season with the Boston Bruins.

In 1969-70 he played for the 1969-70 Canadian National Team.

After that he again became a Canadiens farmhand until 1972 when he joined the New York Raiders of the World Hockey Association.

Gauthier played in 166 NHL games and scored 6 goals and 29 assists.
