Jared Knight (born on January 16, 1992 in Battle Creek, Michigan) is an American professional ice hockey Centre currently playing with the Esbjerg Energy of the Danish Metal Ligaen. He was drafted by the Boston Bruins in the second round, 32nd overall of the 2010 NHL Entry Draft.
Playing Career[]
Junior (2008 - 2012)[]
Jared began his career with the London Knights of the Ontario Hockey League (OHL), He recorded 30 points in his first season,the 2008-09 season but improved to 57 in 2009-10. He was drafted in the 2nd round, 34th overall, by the Boston Bruins in the 2010 NHL Entry Draft, although he opted to play two more seasons with the Knights, In 2010-11 he posted 70 points in 68 games, then made his American Hockey League (AHL) debut with Boston's minor league affiliate, the Providence Bruins at the end of the season, recording 2 assist in 3 games. In his final season as a Knight. he posted 52 points in 52 games, missing a handful of games due to injuries. Knight also won an OHL Championship with the Knights during his final season.
Minor League Struggles (2012 - 2016)[]
Injuries once again caused struggles for Knight, playing only 10 games for the Providence Bruins in the 2012-13 season, managing only 3 points. He played 2 games for the Bruins ECHL affiliate the South Carolina Stingrays to end the season, tallying no points.
Knight struggled once again in the 2013-14 season, only playing in 58 games and posting 19 points. Halfway through the 2014-15 season, after only managing 3 points in 36 games, Knight was traded to the Minnesota Wild for Zack Phillips. He would finish the season with the Wild's AHL affiliate, the Iowa Wild, posting 7 points in 16 games. Knight would post 7 points again in the 2015-16 season, Except that this time it was in 37 games. Knight was then assigned to the Wild's ECHL affiliate, the Quad City Mallards, where he would record 15 points in 20 games.
Playing Overseas (2016 - present)[]
Knight signed with the Esbjerg Energy on June 29th 2016, He recorded 32 points in 45 games in his first season with the Energy, as they would go on to win the Danish cup for the 2016-17 season.
