Jakub Galvas (born on June 15, 1999 in Ostrava) is a Czech professional ice hockey defenceman who currently plays with the Jukurit of the Liiga. Galvas was selected 150th overall (in the 5th round) by the Chicago Blackhawks in the 2017 NHL Entry Draft.[1]

Club career[]

Galvas played junior hockey with the HC Olomouc organisation.

He made his senior debut during the 2016-17 season [2] when Galvas scored one goal and 6 points in 36 games with the HC Olomouc of the Tipsport Extraliga. During that season, he played against his father Lukáš Galvas, it was the first time father and son played a game against one another in league history.[3] He also played one play-off game with the HC Dukla Jihlava of the WSM Liga, 3 games with the HC Olomouc under-18 team and 5 games with the HC Olomouc under-20 team in this season.

In the following 2017-18 season, Galvas was paired defensively alongside his father who joined Olomouc as a free agent for his last professional season. He established new career highs with Olomouc, recording 2 goals and 13 points in 42 regular season games and 1 goal and 5 points in 9 play-off games.[4]

After improving his offensive totals in each of his three seasons with Olomouc, Galvas left following the 2018-19 season in which he was the junior with the most points (17) scored in Tipsport Extraliga to continue his development by agreeing to a two-year contract with Finnish Liiga club, the Jukurit, on May 15, 2019.[5] In his first season with the Jukurit played Galvas 2 regular season games and 1 play-off game with the Jukurit under-20 team and 43 games with the Jukurit of the Liiga. In his second season with the Jukurit, Galvas played 47 games scoring 11 points.
