Jürgen Penker (born on October 17, 1982 in Bregenz) is a retired Austrian ice hockey goaltender. He is currently the assistant coach and goaltending coach with the Black Wings 1992 of the ICEHL, goaltending coach with the Austrian National Junior Team and goaltending coach with the Austrian National Team.
Club career[]
Penker began his junior career with the EHC Lustenau U15 of the Mini B2.
He made his senior debut in the 1999-00 season with the EHC Lustenau of the Nationalliga. In 2000 - 2003, Penker continued with the EHC Lustenau of the Austrian Bundesliga.
In the 2003-04 season, Penker played 15 games with the VEU Feldkirch of the EBEL (formerly Austrian Bundesliga) and also 2 games on loan with the EHC Lustenau of the Nationalliga.
In the next season, he played with the EC Salzburg of the EBEL.
Penker then moved to the Vienna Capitals of the EBEL for the 2005-06 season.
In 2006 - 2008, Penker played with the EHC Linz of the EBEL.
In 2008, Penker signed with the Totempo HVIK of the Metal Ligaen but after just 8 games played, he moved to the Rögle BK of the Elitserien and finished there the season with 30 regular season games played. He was also the second goalie in a few games in the Kvalserien SHL but did not intervene in a game.
In the 2009-10 season, Penker continued with the Rögle BK of the Elitserien.
In the 2010-11 season, Penker played with the Vienna Capitals of the EBEL.
Penker then began the 2011-12 season with the HK Nitra of the Tipsport Liga but after 16 games played, Penker moved to the Lørenskog of the GET-ligaen. He finished there the season with the 22 regular games and 16 play-off games played. He had the best save percentage (.924) among all GET-ligaen goalies in this season.
In the 2012-13 season continued Penker with the Lørenskog of the GET-ligaen.
He also began the next season with the Lørenskog of the GET-ligaen but after 11 games played, Penker returned for the remainder of the season to the Vienna Capitals of the EBEL. He finished there the season with 4 regular season games and 1 play-off game played.
In his last season in 2014-15 season played Penker with the Rapperswil-Jona Lakers of the NLA but he only appeared in one relegation game, he was only the second goalie in the regular season.

International career[]
Penker played with the Austrian National Team at the 1999 and 2000 World U18 Championships "Pool B" (winning silver at the 2000 tournament), 2001 and 2002 World Junior Championships Division I (winning silver at the 2002 tournament), 2005, 2009 and 2011 World Championships and at the 2008 World Championship Division I (winning there gold).
As goaltending coach, Penker was part of the Austrian National Team at the 2018, 2019, 2020 World Junior Championships Division IA (being also a video coach and winning gold at the 2020 tournament) and at the 2021 World Junior Championship.
